Within the framework of the Fi Wi Riif project, funded by Fondo Acción, we have been in direct contact with fishermen in our community to better understand their needs and challenges. Through surveys, we have collected key information on artisanal fishing in the region, with the aim of developing strategies that strengthen their work and promote the sustainability of our marine resources.
We would like to thank Fondo Acción for its support and, in particular, the fishermen who have participated in this process. Their knowledge and experience are essential to building a future where fishing and conservation go hand in hand.

At the Environmental Classroom, we witnessed the lasting impact of the Climate Literacy project, funded by Fondo Acción. Although the project has ended, the knowledge acquired and the installed capacity continue to flourish, demonstrating that environmental education leaves indelible marks on our community.
Seeing students and islanders take ownership of this initiative reaffirms our belief that education is the key to a sustainable future. We are deeply grateful to Fondo Acción for their commitment and support, making it possible for more people to be part of the change.

At the Providence Foundation, we believe in the power of collaboration to drive sustainable development in our community. That is why, together with NOVARA and ITACA, we met with six local organizations in Providencia and Santa Catalina to strengthen environmental conservation, community development, and the resilience of the island.
The associations ASOCRAB, CERT50, JAC Bottom House, Fish and Farm, Gamadith Amareth Golly Association and JAC Santa Isabel are joining this effort, sharing knowledge and experiences that will help build a more sustainable future for all. Let's continue working together for the well-being of our community!

At Providence Foundation, we have installed piezometers at Jones Point, Santa Catalina, and Mancineel Bay to monitor the health of our mangroves. These instruments are critical to understanding how environmental conditions influence these vital ecosystems.
Every month, we measure key variables such as salinity, REDOX potential, pH and temperature in the interstitial water. This information allows us to assess habitat quality and detect possible changes in the ecosystem balance, essential for the survival of mangroves. The data collected through the piezometers helps us make evidence-based decisions on best restoration practices.
The installation of piezometers is crucial because these ecosystems are closely linked to the quality and availability of groundwater. Knowing these parameters allows us to adjust our restoration strategies and water management to ensure that mangroves remain healthy and resilient to climate and human threats.
Thanks to the MangRes project and UNESCO's support, we can implement effective actions that contribute to the protection of these fragile ecosystems and the preservation of their biodiversity. By ensuring the well-being of mangroves, we are not only protecting the species that depend on them, but also the future of our communities and the environmental balance of the archipelago.

At Providence Foundation, we met with farmers from the Bottom House and Southwest Bay areas of Providence to share the Dream Farm Conservation Agreement as part of The Peak's participatory forest restoration project.
Our goal is to support farmers to implement conservation practices on their land. This will enable them not only to protect and restore forest areas, but also to improve agricultural productivity in a sustainable way, thereby ensuring food security for the community. By conserving biodiversity and natural resources, we contribute to the resilience of ecosystems and the prosperity of future generations.
We deeply thank the farmers for their commitment and enthusiasm in this process. As a sign of our support, we gave them t-shirts, caps and implements, so that they feel accompanied on this path towards the creation of their "Dream Farms", model farms where agricultural production is balanced with environmental conservation.
Thanks to the support of Fondo Acción, we are able to carry out this initiative that seeks to generate a significant change in the way land is managed in Providencia. By collaborating with farmers, we not only promote environmental conservation, but also self-sufficiency and community well-being, promoting a more sustainable future for all.

Our Providence Foundation team had the honor of representing the Seaflower Biosphere at an important international meeting organized by UNESCO in Peru.
From 11 to 16 August, we joined representatives from seven UNESCO biosphere reserves and international experts to share knowledge and experiences in the protection of mangrove ecosystems. This meeting was a unique opportunity to exchange good practices and strategies that promote the conservation and restoration of these valuable ecosystems.
During the event, we participated in practical workshops and training sessions where we learned advanced mangrove monitoring and restoration techniques. These tools will allow us to improve the management and recovery of these areas in the Seaflower Biosphere, promoting more efficient management adapted to local conditions.
In addition, we explore how environmental education can become a driving force for sustainability in biosphere reserves, by developing a traditional ecological calendar together with local communities. This calendar not only makes visible the relationship of communities with the natural environment, but also reinforces their role as guardians of biodiversity.
The event was an enriching experience that allowed us to strengthen our network of collaborators and learn from best practices in ecosystem management. We thank UNESCO, the Government of Flanders, National Parks of Spain and Earth Network for their support in this initiative, which contributes to the protection and resilience of our nature reserves and the consolidation of a more sustainable future.
